After the umpteenth cup of coffee, you suddenly see a light on your DeLonghi machine? There is a good chance that it indicates that it would like to be descaled. But how exactly do you do that? You can't just throw every home, garden and kitchen remedy into the device and hope that it will be sufficient. We will explain to you how you can descale your DeLonghi.

DELONGHI ECODECALK

DeLonghi recommends only using their own brand of descaler. This way you can be sure that you do not accidentally damage your machine. The descaling process consists of 12 steps, so take your time.

STEP 1: TURN OFF DEVICE

This seems like a logical step, but people sometimes forget it. So turn off your machine.

STEP 2: EMPTY RESERVOIR

Then empty the water tank and remove the filter, if present.

STEP 3: FILL WATER TANK WITH DESCALING AGENT

Now pour 100 milliliters of descaling agent into the water tank. This is up to level A. Then fill the rest with tap water up to level B. Now place the water tank back in the machine.

STEP 4: INSERT BOX

Place a container with a minimum capacity of 1.5 liters under the steam wand. The water will come out here soon.

STEP 5: DESCALE THE MACHINE

To start the descaling process, press the descaling button for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the light will stop flashing. This means that the coffee machine is in descaling mode.

STEP 6: TURN STEAM KNOB

Now open the steam knob completely. Move the button towards the 'I' in one smooth movement. Be careful, hot water will now flow from the machine. STEP 7: TURN STEAM KNOB OFF

Turn the steam knob off again by turning it to the 'O' position.

STEP 8: EMPTY CONTAINER

Empty the container with water and then place it back under the steam wand.

STEP 9:

Are you still reading? Okay okay, let's move on to step 9. Remove the water tank from the machine and rinse it thoroughly.

STEP 10: FILL WATER TANK WITH WATER

Now fill the water reservoir with water up to the 'MAX' line. Place the reservoir back in the machine.

STEP 11: TURN STEAM KNOB

We're almost there. Now turn the steam knob fully open again as you did in step 6.

STEP 12: TURN STEAM KNOB OFF

Now close the steam knob completely again. Kees is ready. Your device has now been descaled.
