DESCALING THE KETTLE
You've probably heard it before, you take a look into your kettle and you're shocked by what you see. Lime, lime everywhere. It is time to thoroughly descale it. But how exactly do you do that? We explain how you can have a fresh kettle again within 20 minutes.
DESCALE YOUR KETTLE WITH CITRIC ACID OR VINEGAR
Citric acid or vinegar are two natural options to tackle the limescale in your kettle. We explain step by step how to get your kettle looking like new again.
STEP 1: MIX DESCALING AGENT WITH WATER
To start with, it is useful to know that you are not supposed to fill the entire kettle with lemon juice or vinegar. You make a mixture of one of the two descaling agents and water. The ratio is approximately 50/50.
STEP 2: PUT DESCALING AGENT INTO THE KETTLE
Then pour your mixture into your kettle and turn it on. Easy right?
STEP 3: ALLOW THE KETTLE TO COOL
After the kettle has turned off, it is important that you let it cool down for a while. So don't throw away your mixture immediately.
STEP 4: REPEAT IF NECESSARY
When your kettle has cooled down completely, empty it. Check whether any lime residue is still visible. If so, repeat the above steps again.
STEP 5: RINSE KETTLE
Once the kettle is limescale-free, you can throw the mixture into the sink. It is important that you rinse the kettle thoroughly with tap water, otherwise you will continue to have a lemon or vinegar taste in your tea for a while.
